VFRS-EMS162-3 Clear! How I survived burnout
Lead Instructor: Scott McCormack
After a while EMS providers will begin to realize there are faces, scenes and situations that come through in the quiet times and no one is immune to this. Regardless if it is a brand new EMT or a salty old paramedic, there comes a time to “clear out the attic” Survival and self preservation are skills that on the surface take care of al the problems but all we tend to do is pack it away and pretend it isn’t there. That will only work for so long until the “boxes” break and or the closet spills out. The “I’m ok” (if I show my troubles I am seen as weak) mentality never works for long and could lead down a path that makes things worse. Having support is needed to maintain a happy health life and preventing those faces and placed from spilling over into your home
